This course is designed for officials with several years of experience with the compilation of monetary and/or financial statistics.

The course deals with the methodology for compiling and reporting monetary and financial statistics. It provides information on the forthcoming Compilation Guide on Monetary and Financial Statistics which will complement the Monetary and Financial Statistics Manual (MFSM), and the Standardized Report Forms (SRFs) that are being implemented for member country reporting of monetary data to the IMF. Sectorization of the economy, classification of financial instruments, and valuation and other accounting rules will be discussed in a more detail than in the MFSM. The presentations on the SRFs will provide information on the structure of the new reporting.
