INDIA’S ECONOMIC OUTLOOK: SELECTED FINANCIAL SECTOR ISSUES
The second seminar in the series focused on the Indian financial sector. It was hosted by the IIM Singapore Alumni Association, the IMF Resident Representative Office, and STI.
The seminar discussed India’s current macro-financial settings and key insights from an IMF book India’s Financial System: Building the Foundation for Strong and Sustainable Growth.
Natalia Novikova, IMF Resident Representative in Singapore and author of one of the book’s chapters, gave opening remarks. Two of the book’s editors, Nada Choueiri, the IMF Mission Chief for India, and Alfred Schipke, STI Director, presented data and insights on India’s financial system and trends. Arvind Sankaran, a Fintech expert on secondment to the Asian Development Bank, served as discussant. The presentation was followed by a lively and informative Q&A session with participants from the finance industry, government, and academia.
